Finding Gratitude Amid Life's Seasons
As Thanksgiving approaches, I find myself reflecting on gratitude in a way that feels more profound and more resonant this year. It's a season to gather, to cherish, and to give thanks—but it's also a time that reminds us of all the changes, challenges, and beauty that life brings. I think of my mother, a woman whose resilience, creativity, and warmth shaped so much of who I am today. She taught me the art of gratitude, not just through words, but through her actions, her joy in simple moments, and her unwavering support.
This year has been one of transition, of learning to navigate life without her daily presence. It’s a strange and tender experience to feel both a sense of loss and a well of gratitude at the same time. Yet, if there’s one thing my mother taught me, it’s to hold space for both. She would remind me that life’s beauty often lies in its complexity and that gratitude can coexist with grief, bringing light even in challenging times.
As I reflect on this past year, I am incredibly grateful for my daughters. They have shown up for me and for my mother with a devotion that I can only describe as remarkable. Their kindness, selflessness, and unwavering support during my mother’s final days filled me with pride and a profound sense of gratitude. Watching them care for her, with such grace and love, was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever witnessed. They remind me every day of the power of family and the legacy of love that my mother left us.
So, as I sit down to write my Thanksgiving reflections, here are a few things I'm especially grateful for this year:
Whether it's a friend reaching out, a client sharing their story, or a simple conversation with family, I am reminded daily of the power of human connection. In my work and in my personal life, these connections anchor me, inspire me, and bring joy in ways that I can’t always put into words. They remind me that none of us walk this path alone, and that support and kindness are everywhere if we’re open to it.
2. Embracing New Beginnings
Life has a way of nudging us toward new chapters, sometimes unexpectedly. This year, I've been leaning into AI and technology more than ever, exploring how these tools can support authors and bring their stories to life. It’s been a thrilling journey, one that pushes me to learn, to grow, and to envision new possibilities for the work I love. I’m grateful for the chance to embrace this shift and to see where it takes me.
3. Quiet Moments of Reflection
In the busyness of life, finding quiet moments feels like a gift. A cup of tea, a walk with my dog, a peaceful yoga class—these small rituals ground me and give me the space to be simply. They remind me of the wisdom my mom instilled in me: to find joy and peace in the little things, to slow down, and to listen to the rhythm of my own heart.
4. The Journey of Self-Discovery
This year, I’ve been exploring who I am beyond my major roles as a daughter, a mother, a wife, a businesswoman. It’s an ongoing journey, filled with new insights and realizations. I’m learning to celebrate my own resilience, to trust my intuition, and to approach life with a sense of curiosity. It’s a journey that feels both challenging and incredibly fulfilling, and I’m grateful for every step along the way.
As I look forward to Thanksgiving, I hold all these blessings close, knowing that gratitude isn’t about everything being perfect—it’s about finding meaning, joy, and purpose in the life we have right here and now. So, to all of you—clients, friends, and family—I am grateful for your presence in my life. You are part of what makes this journey rich and meaningful, and for that, I thank you.
Wishing you a Thanksgiving filled with warmth, connection, and the quiet magic of gratitude.
